Pluto and Volcanoes
Both kids have really been into planets lately. They like to color planets, talk about them, read about them. We even took them to the Astronomical Observatory (mostly because Saturn was more visible that night). For Easter we got them a really cool floor puzzle with our solar system. I guess the puzzle is a bit older, because there are still nine planets. We did tell them that Pluto is not a planet anymore. For some reason, that really affected Lara and she keeps bringing it up into different conversations. She was also impressed with the fact that it is VERY cold on Pluto. A couple of days ago we were in the frozen section of a supermaket and she said, "It is very cold here. Just like on Pluto!" :-)
Bogdan is more into volcanoes. I am sad to say, the part about the volcanoes that impressed him was that a volcano is so powerful. So the thoughts of being a soldier, a truck, Pharaoh, a dragon, a dinosaur... were replaced by plans of being "the volcano", "because a volcano can destroy everything". Mothers of boys, is this normal?
Needless to say, we have spent hours watching volcano erupting on YouTube. I saw several interesting volcano books on Amazon and I plan to buy at least one. (Any suggestion would be very welcome!)
